Part 7: Reduces Heart rate

10 ways Massage can benefit You.

This series is designed to encourage you to 'ReThink Massage' and open up your understanding to the benefits outside of just relaxation.

#7 Reduces Heart rate

High blood pressure is known as the silent killer. It has very few symptoms but can affect anyone of any age or gender.

Stress is a major contributor to high blood pressure. It can cause headaches and lower your immune function but more importantly it makes your heart work overtime which, left unchecked, can lead to stroke, heart attacks and possible death.

We all deal with stress everyday. It manages to enter almost every area of our lives. For this reason it is wise to have a way to manage and disperse these feelings of stress and the effects they can have on your overall health.

Were does massage fit in?

Massage can be a useful tool to assist in reducing your heart rate and release the stress that you may be suffering from. The beauty of massage is that you are forced to slow down, to relax. A space is created in your day to just stop. This is a precious time that we each should strive to obtain.

During a massage the nerve endings in your skin are stimulated, Endorphins are released into your bloodstream and stress hormones like Cortisol and Adrenaline are inhibited. Your circulation will improve and your heart will begin to slow. Your muscles are released and relaxed working venous blood towards the heart taking the strain off your heart. So you leave the clinic feeling rejuvenated with a noticeably calmer mind.

It is helpful to keep in mind that massage has a cumulative effect, so if your overall goal is better health, regular visits should be a priority.
