Part 6: Improves Productivity
10 ways Massage can benefit You.
This series is designed to encourage you to 'ReThink Massage' and open up your understanding to the benefits outside of just relaxation.
#6 Improves Productivity

Unfortunately, today's workforce is largely focused on spending increased hours in static, seated positions, performing repetitive tasks. This lifestyle can lead to a variety of issues including:
Headaches
Lower back pain
Lower limb swelling
RSI (repetitive strain injury)
Weight gain
Increased fatigue
Lowered sense of well-being
Poor productivity
When the body becomes stressed and out of balance, your mood, creativity and general motivation can also be negatively affected. We all know we get more done if we feel healthy and happy.
Massage programs in the workplace, used as incentives or bonuses for employees, can have an amazing effect on the morale and health of employees, leading to overall better productivity, which in turn, increases the companies bottom line.
So how can massage help?
As mentioned in previous posts, during a massage the bodies natural 'feel good' hormones are released. Hormones like Dopamine, Serotonin and Oxytocin go to work to block pain signals, maintain mood balance, assist memory and attention. It is suggested that Cortisol levels are also reduced. Overall this reaction can give a better sense of well being and therefore produce the motivation to become more productive. Immune function is also thought to be boosted having the potential to reduce sick days. Massage can also encourage a deeper more restful sleep.
