Part 4: Improves Posture

10 ways Massage can benefit You.

This series is designed to encourage you to 'ReThink Massage' and open up your understanding to the benefits outside of just relaxation.

#4 Improves Posture

Neck, shoulder and lower back pain are often indicators that you may be supporting incorrect posture. It is difficult in today's world to maintain correct posture, everything seems to pull us forward: working at computers all day, looking at our devices and watching television are some of the activities that can promote poor posture and all the aliments that come with it. But pain aside, incorrect posture can also have a deeper effect on your health.

  • It can reduce your breathing capacity

  • Affect your blood and lymphatic circulation

  • Reduce nerve conductivity

  • Disrupt digestion

  • Negatively affect your mental & emotional well-being

As our body begins to compensate for the activity we are doing, it throws the rest of the body out of alignment causing an imbalance in our posture. So our body has to work much harder to hold us upright.

To help reverse postural change we need to work on loosening tight muscles and removing built up scar tissue. Remedial massage is an effective treatment strategy that helps the body to re-align.

Regular massages and being mindful of your posture in your day-to-day activities can lead to some pretty amazing benefits:

  • Increased healing and relaxation

  • Better digestive function

  • Relief from muscle tension

  • Improved joint health

  • Reduction in chronic pain and headaches

  • Reduced mental and emotional stress

So stand tall and sit up straight!
